Hello

I am Caitlin and this is my story

During my first experience transitioning into motherhood in 2019, I felt very much alone and lost. I distinctly remember not being able to shake this feeling of awe and shock after the first week I gave birth. Little did I know, I was going through a huge life metamorphosis known as matrescence; the developmental transition into motherhood.

Though I took all of the birthing and baby classes, went to every prenatal appointment, listening attentively, no one gave me any heads up that I too, will be needing care, nurture and support not only through the first few weeks, but months (years!) thereafter.

The more I talked to other moms, the more I realized how common this 'holy hell, this is hard!’ feeling was. Seemingly we all just bare down and get through it. I, too, finally felt distant to those raw, huge emotions from all that time ago. But as I began my second pregnancy journey, all of these emotions came up again. I wanted a place/space where I could go to that would support me along my second journey. The useful products, local resources, the scientific supported data, and most importantly, I wanted, no, needed, a way to quickly access a mothering community – the real, emotional support that other mothers can provide to another. With very little resources coalesced into one space, the idea of Papillon Collective came to me.

I want to create a safe, informative, and authentic space where women can get curious, ask their tough questions and feel a little more supported by the collective wisdom of other mothers. Though every woman's journey is unique, we all come out on the other side a different person. Let's support one another while getting there.

Join me on this transformation!

Caitlin

More about me

I moved to Portland in 2018 from San Francisco, where I met my partner, Pablo. I am originally an east coaster (Maryland) but west coast has my heart :)

My background is in interior architecture, practicing design strategy and commercial facility planning for 10 years. I decided the corporate world wasn't supporting my passion after having children.

I launched this business in 2022 when I was pregnant with my son. I am so grateful to the women I have met along the way. The supportive maternal community and each of the moms who comes through one of our groups. I do this for you all!

When I am not building community, I am making sour dough bread, going to the best bakeries in Portland and hitting up a good exercise class on Classpass. It's all about balance :)
